Massage using selective essential oils can be profound and long lasting, intensifying the effects of body massage. The attractive perfumes of essential oils have a measurable influence on the brain and are capable of adjusting a person’s mood. Certain properties in the oils are absorbed through the skin and can have a positive effect on health.
This new and exciting course creates a new dimension for all massage practitioners, or anyone wishing to start a career in aromatherapy, with an in-depth study of 50 essential oils, their usage and therapeutic application.
During the course, you will learn the art of oil blending, methods of extraction, properties, physiological and psychological effects of essential oils on all systems of the body, plus aromatherapy massage on body, face and scalp. In addition, you will enjoy an exclusive visit to Kew Gardens to see some of the plants used in the extraction of essential oils, growing in situ.
Tutor Kitty Fletcher, who also teaches the Reflexology, Deep Tissue Massage and ‘Hands-Free’ courses at the Wilbury school, has an extensive working knowledge of the oils and their properties. Her love of working with the oils successfully over the years shows in her passion and enthusiasm for her subject.
This one-year part-time course is a combination of intensive class tuition over 12 Fridays (3 months), followed by five months’ comprehensive distance learning and support - allowing time and space for students to complete case studies and course work, with monthly tutor assignments.
