Anatomy & Physiology
Tutor: Amanda Oswald BA (Hons), MBA, ITEC Dip
This fascinating subject is challenging, and very rewarding. A thorough understanding of the human body, how it works and what can go wrong with it, is an essential requirement of all body workers such as shiatsu, yoga and pilates practitioners, as well as massage therapists.
The Course
The course is held twice a year, but it is sometimes possible to join mid-way through as the lectures are on-going.
Tutor Amanda Oswald is a sports massage therapist who has practices in Harley Street and Brighton. Her knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology is amazing and she teaches with up-to-the-minute techniques to allow understanding to develop. There are monthly spot tests and assignments for continual assessment.
During the course, you will learn about all twelve systems of the body, how they interact with one another and their associated conditions and diseases.
This is a flexible, part-time course, comprising six monthly lectures (Saturdays 10am - 5.30pm), 2 subjects per lecture.
It includes a manual, CD-ROM, textbook, home-study project, and monthly assignments.
NB: A&P is an integral part of the Holistic Massage and Reflexology courses. It can be taken in advance of, or in conjunction with, for example Reflexology, Thai Massage or Kinesiology.
