Practice Management

This module forms an essential part of all ITEC Diploma courses. It covers all other subjects required to complete the professional training in bodywork such as massage or reflexology, and prepares the student to work as a self-employed practitioner or to be employed in a clinic or other workplace. This module comprises a First Aid day and a Practice Management day and evening, plus a home-study project.

Subjects covered by Practice Management include:

• First Aid procedures and safety in the workplace.
• The Acts and Laws affecting practitioners, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Children's Act.
• Setting up a practice: business studies, basic book-keeping, accounting and self-assessment.
• Professionalism and ethics.
• Marketing and advertising a new business.
